What is the "Body of Knowledge" (BoK), and how do I use it?
The BoK is the official outline published by ASQ that details exactly what topics will be covered on the exam. It is divided into major sections (e.g., Leadership, Strategic Plan Development, etc.) with specific subtopics. Our entire course is mapped directly to the current BoK, so if it’s in the BoK, we cover it. We recommend using the BoK as a checklist to track your study progress.
How is the CMQ/OE exam structured?
The exam is typically a 180-questions, multiple-choice test administered via computer, 165 are scored questions and 15 are unscored questions. You have approximately 4 hours (250 mins) to complete it. The questions are based on the most current Body of Knowledge (BoK) provided by ASQ.
What are the prerequisites for taking the CMQ/OE exam?
To qualify for the CMQ/OE, you must have a combination of work experience and education. You need to have worked in a field of quality in a decision-making or leadership role.
For those with a degree: You need 6 years of experience (if you have a bachelor's degree) or 4 years (if you have a master's or higher).
For those without a degree: You need 8 years of experience.
